Sparks an interest in being a Renaissance teacher…
Thank you for your interest in Waldorf education and in our Waldorf teacher education program. It is exciting to see how the movement for this holistic education has grown and there continues to be a greater demand for trained Waldorf teachers than there are teachers available. If the information below sparks an interest in being a ‘Renaissance’ teacher in the highest sense of the word, we look forward to meeting you.
A rotating program..
Waldorf Institute of Southern California (WISC) offers a three-year program which provides training so that one can either be a Grades Teacher or an Early Childhood lead kindergarten teacher or assistant.
Entry into the WISC program happens at the beginning of September, January or June. New students work side by side with 2nd and 3rd year students in a rotating schedule–this creates a unique opportunity to learn with and from your peers.
Program Schedule …
Our classes meet three Saturdays a month from September to May and for three full weeks in the summer. Early Childhood candidates attend an additional summer week at our Los Angeles Campus.
Tuition and ATA (Accessible to All)…
The full suggested tuition for the 3-year WISC Teacher Education program is $26,400 or $8,800 per year plus a yearly materials fee.
Accessible to All: WISC makes its Waldorf teacher education program accessible to all who are drawn to it with motivated commitment. Conscious consensual conversations take place between each student and our ATA team, Liza Ferraro and Kate Vance, to learn more about each other, to present clearly the current organizational needs and goals of WISC, and to discover together the tuition amount feasible for the student if s(he) is not able to pay the full suggested tuition. This becomes the students full tuition.
See it for yourself…
We look forward to meeting you regarding your interest in becoming part of our program. We would like to extend an invitation to spend a Saturday with us, participating in the classes, interacting with the students and experiencing the type of instruction unique to Waldorf. While you are visiting, we would like a brief conversation, to introduce ourselves and to get to know you better. Please let us know if you are available to visit one of our upcoming Saturdays.
The end result…
Students graduating from WISC receive a certificate of completion in early childhood and grades instruction, qualifying them to teach in any Waldorf school in the US or throughout the world if a BA is already completed.
WISC is a non- profit organization, fully accredited with the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA), and is the most established teacher education institute in Southern California. Waldorf teachers are changing the world one child at a time and we are honored to be part of this amazing and life changing work.
